What you want vs. what your parents want?

As a senior portrait photographer, it's always important to balance the needs of both the senior and her parents. In this particular case with my senior Bridget, her natural style is urban, edgy, and cool. In contrast, her mom prefers a softer, more feminine style. It was up to my team and I to blend the two preferences and create a photoshoot that both the senior and her mom would love.The first thing we decided on was that we needed two locations, one in the city and one in nature.  Afterwards, I communicated to my makeup artist to give Bridget a smoky eye, but to blend it out well so it was still soft.When we shot in the city, we did one outfit where the Bridget wore a pastel tone peach tank.  We brought in the flowers and the tote to make it more feminine.  Because of the location, we still got a metropolitan look, and mom got the softness that she wanted.We knew we had to do one outfit that was all Bridget, and this black romper was it.  In fact, this was her favorite attire of the entire shoot.The third outfit was entirely for mom.  Bridget's mom wanted a big tulle skirt that would make an impact.  She also loves floral crowns so she got one made for Bridget.  What I thought was really smart about this combination was that the black crop top brought out more of Bridget's personality, but it was neutral enough to let the rest of the dress shine as a feminine piece.The final outfit was Bridget's idea as well.  The crop tea + maxi skirt combo is the perfect combination of edgy and soft.
