Top 5 Ways to Use Pinterest
In the spirit of getting my pinterest account verified, which makes me feel oh-so-posh, I'm going to write about the Top 5 ways to use pinterest. Many of you are already addicted. You know how to navigate it, you have a bazillion pin boards, and you spend more time on it than with real people. If that's you, props! You don't need to read this blog post unless you just want to affirm what I say. This blog post is for the non-believers.If you're not active on pinterest...all my guy friends, I'm talking to you - you might want to reconsider because it's great for personal and business reasons. Here are the top 5 ways to use pinterest to your advantage and make it worth your while.#1: Use it to Make Inspiration/Mood BoardsI've started creating boards for my clients per every themed shoot. Because I spend more time researching photography, design, and art, I usually have a large database of websites and inspirations to pull from. If I have a particular vision, pinterest helps me translate it to my clients. I can also invite my clients to a particular board, so they can pin their ideas.#2: Use it as a Posing GuideI have an entire pinterest board dedicated to poses I like and know my clients can pull off without feeling too awkward. It's a great way for clients to look at poses, and then practice and imitate it at home before the session.#3: Use it as Fashion InspirationFashion is an essential part of the photoshoot process. The type of clothes you wear can make you look skinnier or much larger than you actually are. I wrote a "What Not to Wear" guide all about clothes you should avoid some time ago. However, my pinterest board is kind of like a "What to Wear" guide. (I'll write a blog post about layering pretty soon).#4: Use it as a BookmarkerI'm in the middle of wedding planning right now, and it's completely overwhelming how much information is out there. Whenever I find something on a website I truly connect with, I pin it, so I don't forget it. Pinterest has a linkback, so if I ever want to look at the content in detail, I can click on the image and it takes me back to the site. It's the bookmarker I've always wanted.#5: Use it to Share IdeasSince my engagement session is coming up soon, I've been pinning different ideas for the shoot. In order to translate some of those ideas to my fiance and photographer, it's much easier to show them examples than to just talk about them. I want everyone involved to be on the same page, and if we decide to chunk a certain idea, I can just get rid of the pin on that particular board or I move it to another board.
