A Letter from Fred - "Oh Sweet Lorraine"
I'm an emotional person, and I usually bawl like a baby during romantic movies that have bittersweet endings. This morning, I came across this video, and I can say that without a doubt, it is one of the most touching stories I've heard in a long time. It's so inspiring to me that a 96 year old man could still have such affection and longing for his wife of 73 years. Lorraine is gone now, but the song he wrote for her is such a beautiful tribute to her name. This sweet old couple reminds me of my grandparents, who are 90 and 84 years old. During meals, my grandmother always serve my grandfather first and doesn't eat until she makes sure he has good food on his plate. Even though her body isn't as nimble as it used to be, she still tries to help him a lot. Though he is a stoic, and doesn't outwardly show his affections, I can tell by the way he rubs her hand sometimes that she is his crown jewel. They are a reminder to me that love is action, not just an emotion.
