Generation One Day - Feb 14th
We have exciting news from one of the organizations that we support. Today is Valentine's day, but in honor of 10 years of service for the people of Houston, the City and Mayor Sylvester Turner proclaimed February 14th as Generation One Day!
"Generation One Academy is a Christian, non-profit based early childhood education center in Houston's historic Third Ward. The Academy empowers its students by cultivating skills to conquer obstacles that would hinder the overall success of the underserved children of this community. We do this through evidence based practices that place an emphasis on social and emotional learning and developing a growth mindset. This approach supports the building of lasting trust based relationships with our students and their families."
Since Generation One is entirely funded by donations and volunteers, it doesn't have the budget to hire a professional team of photographers to come and take school photos for the students like the public or private schools. To ensure that these kids get to have the same privileges, we donated outdoor photos and prints for all the kids last year so all the kids and their parents can enjoy school pictures just like any public or privately funded school.
